The first flight was December 17th, 1925, between Lakehurst Naval Air Station in New Jersey and Dayton, Ohio. The first plane used on this flight was a Fokker Trimotor. It had two Pratt & Whitney engines of 450 horsepower each.

In 1930, they hired their first airline CEO, William Boeing, who was well-known for creating the B-17 Flying Fortress during World War II. In 1934, Airline United was created as a corporation.

In 1942 Airline United had its first major crash on February 22nd near Isla Grande Airport (later known as Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport). One plane out of 16 crashed, and 17 persons died. In 1958, they were the first airline to use the Boeing 377 Stratocruiser which was larger than all other aircraft.

The Boeing 707 was the first to be used by Airline United in 1959. The fleet has since grown to 747’s and 777’s, during which many other major airlines have started using them as well.
